Statement of Pennsylvania PIRG (PennPIRG) State Director Stephanie Monahon on the launch of online voter registration in Pennsylvania

“PennPIRG applauds Governor Wolf and his administration for successfully launching an online voter registration system that dramatically increases accessibility for Pennsylvanians to engage in the voter registration process, and incorporates the necessary protocols to ensure the integrity and security of the system. Today, Pennsylvania joins 22 other states in adopting a more efficient and accurate system for registering our voters. Policies like online voter registration are essential to making democracy work for Pennsylvanians and there is still more we can do. While online voter registration is an important first step and we celebrate the new policy, we call on Governor Wolf and his administration to continue improving access to voting through initiatives such as same day voter registration, no-excuse absentee voting and early vote.”
